What the Funk III?

James Brown, George Clinton, Cameo, Tower of Power and Herbie Hancock may be out of the charts today, but Funk is still alive.
What the Funk is a live music costume party set to have people dancing to funk on April 6th, 2013. Following a short hiatus, established musicians Mark Attard (keyboards) and Eric Santucci (guitars) are planning a very special third edition. A crowd dressed for disco is expected at Buskett Roadhouse. All profits of the event will be passed on to Puttinu Cares.
Before their debut April 2010 gig, where the band played for a jam packed Escape club, the question of whether people on our little island would attend a night dedicated to Funk, and dance the night away, was answered. Not only were the tickets sold out but many showed up for the gig wearing retro outfits to add more colour to the beat. The event was held again in February 2011 at Stitch Club and featured a larger brass section as well as musicians who flew in especially for this event.
Funk has been with us since the mid late 60s yet a band dedicated to funk alone is new to our shores. WTF is big and loud – just the way a real funk band should be. It is made up from members of popular bands such as Fakawi, Tribali, Red Electric and more.
The band’s line up gets bigger every year but the spirit is the same. New members, new ideas, more funk… a bigger band and a tighter family.
The question now is will you help us put the fun back in FUNK?
