What The Funk 5 – Back To The Future
A live funky 80’s music concert in aid of Noah’s Ark Dog Sanctuary.
This is actually the fifth concert from the What the Funk! project. Having built a reputation for presenting funk music from the 70s and all time funky favourites with four other concerts, this year we shall be adding a twist to everything!
What if this 70’s style band was ahead of its time and started playing the 80’s top hits with a funky groove? Welcome to What the Funk 5 – Back to the Future edition! This event is designed to move people to the dance floor, it will please those who are over the age of thirty by providing a nostalgic trip back in time and the younger generation will definitely enjoy those very particular groovy beats and rhythms.
So, to use an expression from the 80’s, here’s an event which you should ‘pencil into your diary’.
What the Funk 5 – Back to the Future will take place on Friday, 24th April at Razzett l–Ahmar and shall feature some of the best hits from that era and some other more recent hits which retain the same rhythm, punch and groove from that musical genre.
The music stars from that era, such as Depeche Mode, Michael Jackson, U2, Soft Cell, Cindi Lauper, Bob Marley and many others, are still very relevant in today’s music scene and contemporary artists such as Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars mix their influences from the 70s and 80s disco and funk with modern sounds to produce some amazing hits.
As with past concerts, this event has an impressive line-up of local artists and will feature incredible singers and musicians from some of the best local bands such as, Tribali, Relic, Fakawi and Strumming, amongst others. There will be many solo musicians, such as Adrian Brincat Ir-Russu, Mario Borg as well as singers Nadine Axisa, Glen Vella and Cheryl Camilleri, Annemarie Mayo, Janice Debattista, Keith Zammit, Franklin Calleja, Angela Vella Zarb, Daryl Ebejer and Sven Midensol.
We must also mention the band members Joseph Axiak, Ivan Giordano, Peter Paul Galea, Chris Grima, Eric Santucci, Jeremy Micallef, Ruben Navarro and Mark Kram. DJ Alex (Reflex) Grech shall be spinning some 80’s tunes before and after the concert and P.J. Xerxen shall be hosting the show. Janice Briffa is wardrobe manager.
The What the Funk 5 team’s aim is to produce some good LIVE funky 80’s music in a retro party atmosphere, to get the crowd dancing all night for a good cause – to raise funds for Noah’s Ark dog sanctuary who need our help to host more than 100 dogs and to rescue many others in the future.
Join us on 24th April at Razzett l Ahmar for an amazing concert and retro costume party organised for a very good cause.
