SCHUMANN, CHOPIN AND SKRJABIN ON A WEDNESDAY
The idea behind the Wednesdays at the Manoel is for our audience to have a midweek cultural break. This had been proven so popular during our last season, that we’ve extended its run this time round.
The 21st October will kick off the first of this series of nine, and will feature the leading Italian pianist Albertina Dalla Chiara, who will be performing works by Schumann, Chopin and Skrjabin.
A graduate of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Albertina’s career as a concert pianist had started from a very young age, performing both in Italy and abroad. She has performed with many of the leading orchestras across Europe.
Besides a distinguished career as a pianist, Albertina has conducted seminars and lectures dedicated to the teaching methods and Russian music tradition of Heinrich and Stanislav Neuhaus, and has given several concert lectures dedicated to the composers Frédéric Chopin, Robert Schumann and Alexander Skrjabin, whose works will be interpreted by her in Malta.
The full programme includes Clara Schumann’s Variazioni su un tema di Robert Schumann op.20, Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestuecke op.12, Chopin’s Mazurca in si minore op. 33 n. 4 and Skrjabin’s Sonata-Fantasia n.2 op.19 in sol diesis minore, 5 Preludes op.74 and Poema op.72 Vers la flamme.
Tickets are €20 with discounts for senior citizens and students. Full-time students with valid identification qualify for €10 seats from one hour before the performance (subject to availability). Primary school children (6+) enter free but must be accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased from the Teatru Manoel website.
