R&S RECORDS – IN ORDER TO DANCE
Renaat Vandepapeliere certainly needs no introduction in the music industry, as he’s best known as the founder of the iconic R&S Records and as one of the pioneers in renovating and revolutionising techno as we know it today. Renaat is definitely a man who’s contributed extensively in discovering and establishing some of the biggest artists on the planet, including Aphex Twin, The Prodigy, Paula Temple, Tale Of Us, Alex Smoke, Joey Beltram, Nicholas JARR and James Blake.
Glaswegian electronic music producer and composer Alex Smoke/Alex Menzies has released five albums and a myriad of singles as Alex Smoke and Wraetlic, and has also been an in-demand remixer, working on music by artists such as Steve Reich and Depeche Mode. He also tours extensively, performing live all over the world. His background in classical music has also led to composing for orchestral musicians, and writing music for film and TV. Some of his most recent work includes a collaboration with the Scottish Ensemble on a full score for the 1926 film of Faust, and he’s also scored BBC series’ Order & Disorder and Mechanical Marvels. He also works frequently alongside respected visual artist Florence To in the creation of site-specific installation pieces.
