NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATIONS IN VALLETTA
Valletta will once again be hosting the national New Year’s Eve celebrations, following their success over the last few years. This is a highly anticipated event that draws in hundreds of people together to celebrate the start of the New Year.
The festivities are being organised by the Valletta 2018 Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and the Valletta Local Council.
The main stage will be situated at the Pjazza San Ġorġ, where some of Malta’s top local artists and bands will be filling the area with music. The line up includes The Crown and Musique, as well as a performance by a special orchestra comprising of various members of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Sigmund Mifsud.
The show will begin at 8pm and features special guests Glen Vella and Kevin Borg. DJs Pierre Cordina and Clint Bajada will be hosting the night and playing some of the best hits of 2015.
There will also be the colourful 3D Architectural Mapping Project Show lighting up the the façade of the Grandmaster’s Palace, which is the result of a collaboration between the V18 Foundation the the MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts. The show will have a special countdown to signal this year’s final moments and will be accompanied by stage pyrotechnics and fireworks, which will be let off from a number of rooftops around Pjazza San Ġorġ. The projections will commence on the 23rd December.
Following this, Gianni Zammit and Pawlu Borg Bonaci will be performing stand up comedy routines, and Pierre Cordina and Clint Bajada will continue with their acts in the first hours of 2016.
