MALTA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA’S GRAND ORCHESTRAL CONCERT
Two monumental works. Two great musicians. One grand concert.
The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing two of Tchaikovsky‘s most monumental works during its first Grand Orchestral Concert of the year at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on the 30th January at 7.30pm.
Maestro Brian Schembri will be conducting the orchestra, and it is a privilege to be able to witness how his dedication and inspiration for musicians is reflected in the orchestra’s rendition of any music it has at hand, especially in this case, where the conductor’s affinity with the Russian culture will undoubtedly shine through in these two Tchaikovsky compositions.
World-renowned Franco-Serbian violinist Nemanja Radulović will feature as soloist in the first item on the programme − Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, which is considered to be one of the best examples of a technically taxing piece within a violinist’s repertoire.
The second part of the evening will consist of Tchaikovsky’s sixth and final symphony – Pathétique – an energetic work that the composer himself describes as “the best thing I ever composed or shall compose”.
The MPO will be providing a complimentary shuttle service from the Valletta Waterfront. For bookings, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 2559 5750.
