Carmelo Mangion – Vision of a Maltese Master
Carmelo Mangion’s range of works could be described as both intrepid and eclectic. There are a multitude of techniques and themes explored by the artist and his audience is presented with a variety of oils and gouache which are thought provoking and aesthetically pleasing.
Mangion, who was born in 1905 and was an alumnus of the British Academy of Art in Rome, the Académie de Grande Choumière in Paris and the Grand Central School of Art in New York, was awarded the National Order of Merit in 1995. He is now considered to be a revolutionary artist and a pioneer in the history of Art in Malta of the 20th century.
His work will be exhibited at the Casino Maltese in Valletta from the 6th till the 27th March. Opening hours are as follows:
