Resurfacing Philosophies is a collective exhibition presenting the works of respected artists including the late Neville Ferry, Sina Farrugia, Valerio Schembri and others. The artists explore various elements of artistic inspiration as influenced by their surrounding context. It is a body of work which takes raw ideas from nature, the human primitive origin, the Maltese-Gozitan symbolism, and landscapes.

These elements are the raw ideas, which offer an opportunity to discuss how each individual’s context influences one’s perspective and philosophy on life. This process is similarly present within the lifespan of the raw material of clay used by the ceramicists with mastery, as they take clay from its raw form and work it into the the artist’s vision. An idea, too, goes through a metamorphosis from its raw concept through an investigated research to a mode of thought.

This exhibition, curated by Marisabelle Grech, gathered artists with experience on both a national and international scale, having exhibited in galleries and important institutions both locally and internationally. The Reverend’s Gallery, initiated by Father Joseph Vella with the intention of exhibiting contemporary artwork from the local and foreign art scene, houses these works in a large typical Gozitan village square by the church in Żebbuġ Gozo, in a recently renovated house of character turned gallery space.
