HOSPICE MALTA MIDNIGHT WALK

Hospice Malta is known for providing free palliative care, for which it raises funds with the help of various events and initiatives for the general public. In summer, Hospice Malta raises funds through midnight walks, and you can be a part of this initiative in the coming weeks. The success of such fundraising efforts will ensure the continuation of Hospice’s commitment to provide palliative care to persons diagnosed with  cancer, ALS and other serious  illnesses, while supporting their families. Also, at this stage Hospice Malta is working on the new project of renovating exCini Institute to be the new premises of Hospice Malta, as well as the first Hospice Inpatient Unit in Malta.

The evening will start with music and a warm-up:

• 09.00 pm – 9.45 pm: Phyllisienne Brincat’s Vocal Academy
• 09.45 pm – 10.20 pm: Warm up Zumba with Marouska
• 10.20 pm: Minutes of silence to remember the departed loved ones
• 10.30 pm: Two walks set off
• Finishing Points: presentation of certificates on Bugibba Square and Mosta Square respectively.

This year there will be two routes, both starting from Bugibba square (Aquarium, Sunny coast, near Bella Vista):

• 4 km (1 hour) circular route to Qawra, starting 10.30pm, finishing at Bugibba Square;

• 9 Km (2 hour) route starting 10.30 pm and finishing at Mosta Square.

The routes will diverge close to Pioneer Road ring road, where the 9 km walk will continue to Mosta whilst the 4 km will return to Bugibba Square. Hospice Malta will offer transport from Mosta Square to Bugibba Square leaving at 8.30-9.00 pm sharp (you are required to book your place by the 12th September).

Throughout the year, over 1,000 patients and their families use the Hospice’s services, developed with a view to offer maximum quality of life and dignity to people with severe illnesses. The Hospice receives an average of 60 new referrals each month. Visits by the professional team to patients and families amount to over 7,000 per year. Providing on-call, psychological and bereavement support, the Hospice is run as a voluntary organisation.

The event will take place on the 14th September (Friday). Registration is against a donation of €10 per person (free for children up to 12 years). For your donation, you will receive a complimentary T-shirt, refreshments en route, a goody bag and a certificate of participation. Bookings can be done online or by sending a completed registration form together with donation to Hospice Malta (39, Good Shepherd Avenue Balzan BZN 1623).
