Valletta 2018 is working hard to live up to the promise of a year-long island-wide festa. In addition to taking popular music events under its umbrella and offering beach volley in Valletta, it now presents a dance party Malta Calls, organised with ŻfinMalta.

Malta Calls promises a unique outdoor clubbing experience of music and dance incorporated with visual projections by Shaun Prickimage and Dan Strutt. The two have previously worked with the Chemical Brothers and the English National Opera.

Professional dancers from the ŻfinMalta Dance Ensemble will perform a 45-minute original choreography by international choreographer and former ŻfinMalta Artistic Director Mavin Khoo to live music by international DJ PerQX, a Stockholm native who is at the cutting edge of the evolving global underground house music scene. At the heart of this piece is the story of humanity and the future through a specifically created 3D avatar.

Local DJs Carlo Gerada, Miss Roberta and DJ Ruby will also take to the stage to entertain the crowd with their tunes for the night, transforming St Clare’s College Grounds into a memorable dance party. The venue faces unobstructed sea views and will have a 40 metre stage, lit up by international designer Michael Mannion. A diverse group of guest performers will also appear throughout the night creating visual fantasies to heighten the experience of clubbing track grooves.

Think you’re too old for this kind of clubbing? Read our author’s arguments and think twice.

The party will take place on Friday 20th July from 20.00 at St Clare’s College Secondary School Grounds (ex Sir Adrian Dingli) in Pembroke. Entrance is free.
