Did you know that two educational channels have been added for Maltese audiences to enjoy? BBC Earth and the number one channel for pre-schoolers, CBeebies, are now available on Melita’s 140+ TV package. BBC Earth features a rich mix of premium factual content – from the stunning, landmark natural history series to high-octane documentaries. CBeebies is one of the most trusted children’s TV brands in the world. Its aim is to encourage children aged six years and under to learn through play in a safe environment. It is the most watched children’s channel in the UK and is the winner of numerous awards with shows like Hey Duggee, Go Jetters and Charlie and Lola, also winning accolades around the world.
BBC Earth on Melita will also air Blue Planet II – an award-winning series on the world’s oceans and the most viewed natural history programme. Other popular programmes are Astronauts: The Toughest Job in the Universe, and Meet the Humans – a science series that puts humans under the microscope.
“Blue Planet II had been four and half years in the making, was filmed on every continent and across every ocean” explained BBC’s Simon Cottle, “the team visited 39 countries and mounted 125 expeditions with crews spending over 6,000 hours diving underwater.” Following the airing of the finale of Blue Planet II in the UK, there was a surge of interest in plastic recycling, with online searches increasing by 55%. Environmental charities also saw huge increases of traffic to their websites, for example the Marine Conservation Society saw a 169% jump in visitors, the Plastic Oceans Foundation had a 35% increase and searches for the World Wildlife Fund increased by 51%. And finally 62% agreed that they intend to change their daily life to reduce their own impact on our oceans. Will it have a similar effect in Malta?
BBC Earth and CBeebies are also available via MelitaWiFi 4.5G network on smartphone or tablet.
