The King Carnival float, featuring Grandmaster de la Valette and numerous details tied to Valletta, the lion symbol, and the Siege Bell War Memorial, has been unveiled this week. It will be gracing the Carnival festivities in Valletta this Friday as part of the defile.

Valletta 2018 Foundation Chairman Jason Micallef, together with Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Protection and Valletta 2018 Deo Debattista, Carnival Artistic Director Jason Busuttil and Landa head Clint Axisa unveiled the structure on Wednesday.

The King Carnival float leads all other floats and opens the Carnival defilé. A team of around 25 people work on the construction. It is also the only float that participates in all the five days of Carnival. The float used to be constructed by Charles Axisa for 18 years before he died in a workplace accident in 2013. His sons are keeping their father’s legacy alive.
