Based in Palazzo de La Salle, the Malta Society of Arts is known for its exhibitions and art teaching activities. In November, it unveiled the new refurbished music room with a glamorous new piano. Officially inaugurated on Wednesday 29 November with a piano concert, the newly-renovated upstairs spaces include the Concert Hall, the Art Galleries and a Conference Room.
Renovation works on Malta Society of Arts’ seat started in June 2016 and took 18 months of intense and difficult works. The public could see the result during an Open Day on Friday 1 December, where Members of the MSA and visitors were shown around the premises and given details of the works and the cultural events which are already transforming the Art Galleries and the Concert Hall of Palazzo de La Salle into a cultural hub.
Maltese pianist Maureen Galea unveiled the brand new Steinway piano, which was recently acquired by the Malta Society of Arts as part of its renovation process, by playing pieces by Grieg, Charles Camilleri, Kaprálová, Beethoven, Suk and Tomášek. Since then, the music room has seen many other fine performances.
