Sliema Wanderers F.C Nursery and The Inspire Foundation collaborated for the second edition of the Come Together Football Tournament – a friendly tournament for young players, with the aim of promoting inclusion in our society.
On Sunday 2nd April 2017, over 100 young players participated in the football festival, held at The Sliema Wanderers FC Training Complex at Tigne Point, Sliema.
Over €800 was collected on the day, all of which was donated to The Inspire Foundation.
25 teams from the Under 7 and Under 9s categories from nurseries all over Malta participated in the event. Nurseries which participated include Sliema, San Ġwann, Mosta, Fgura, Kirkop, Tarxien, Swieqi, Marsaxlokk, Balzan, Ħamrun and Żabbar.
“It was indeed our Nursery’s pleasure to offer its facilities and help in the organisation of this festival. We give great importance to such initiatives as they fall within our social responsibilities. The Come Together Football Festival in aid of Inspire helped raise awareness, was a means of generating funds and continued to instil in our children values that will serve them well as they grow older,” Stephen Azzopardi, Technical Director at Sliema Wanderers FC said.
The Inspire Foundation promotes inclusion and equality by providing a service to over 1,000 clients and their families. It provides educational, therapeutic and leisure services to individuals with a disability including Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and others. Services are offered free of charge or at a highly subsidised rate.“ It is great to see so many youngsters come together in sport and doing something they love in aid of a good cause. Such positive collaborations are invaluable to organisations like ours,” Antonello Gauci, CEO at Inspire Foundation said.
The Inspire Foundation expresses its gratitude towards Sliema Wanderers F.C Nursery for the organization of such tournament and all participants for contributing towards the work of the Foundation.
