For a while now, local Juventus Club DOC Malta Cuore Bianconero has been recognised as the largest foreign Juventus club in the world, but it’s an accolade that has recently inspired their move to a new premises.

Their previous local premises simply wasn’t large enough to sustain their already huge and ever-growing following, and it became apparent that moving the club to new, much bigger and more modern premises with accessibility and plenty of space was the only solution.

The problem, as ever, was financing such an historic move. Although the club’s membership fees and regular fundraising events went a long way towards achieving the required funds, there was still a small sum left to raise in order to make the dream of a new home for the club a reality.

This is where local crowdfunding site ZAAR stepped in. Juventus Club DOC Malta Cuore Bianconero set up a campaign on the platform, inviting 300 people to donate €20 each in order to reach their €6,000 target. In return for their donation, each supporter’s name would be included on a special commemorative plaque to be prominently displayed within the new premises, to be forever remembered as The 300 – the ones who made it possible.

Almost immediately, the donations poured in via the site, until after just 17 days, the campaign had to be closed early when it reached the maximum number of names that could be added to the plaque. “This was a very particular campaign as we had a clear cut-off point,” says ZAAR manager Matthew Caruana. “I believe the amount would have kept rising had the campaign continued till its deadline, but we were thrilled to see that the goal was achieved in record time.”

Following the successful crowdfunding campaign on ZAAR, Juventus Club DOC Malta Cuore Bianconero was able to open the doors to its new premises at the beginning of February 2017. Members and other Juventus FC supporters can now enjoy the large terrace, a spacious bar, a fully-equipped games room, a meeting room and boardroom, among the other amenities available at the club’s new home at Triq Troubridge, Marsa.
