Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed, but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton returns to the only place he can ever call home. Spud, Sick Boy, and Begbie are waiting for him. Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger. They are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
Based on a true story and adapted from the novel A Long Way Home, Garth Davis directs Dev Patel, David Wenham, Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara in this masterpiece.
Five-year old Saroo finds himself separated from his brother and trapped in a moving decommissioned passenger train that takes him to Calcutta, 1,500 miles away from home. Totally lost in an alien urban environment and too young to identify either himself or his home to the authorities, he struggles to survive as a street child until he is sent to an orphanage. He’s then adopted by the Brierley family in Tasmania, where he grows up in a loving and prosperous home. However, for all his material good fortune, Saroo finds himself plagued by the memories of his lost family in his adulthood, and tries to search for them.
