Claire Marante had started her music education with classical guitar and music theory at the age of seven. Her first love, however, was always singing. Over the years, she trained her voice with various teachers, including soprano Gillian Zammit in Malta, vocal coach Lorna Brooks in Scotland, and Welsh singer Julie Thomas. She’s sung with several bands and artists in Malta and in Scotland, exploring different genres such as alternative, jazz, pop, soul and blues.
Led by composer and guitarist Franco Tartaglia, Tact (Tartaglia’s Act) is a music project that features a genre of introspective music. In 2015, Tact had launched the album Brushworks, which was funded by the Malta Arts Fund (Malta Arts Council).
Brushworks entails the composition and production of twelve original scores with a wide spectrum of music influences, varying from classical to jazz. The simplicity of the original musical notions is expressed through the rawness of the instruments that blend with uniquely structured guitar playing and composition. This enables the album to transmit and portray a strong lyrical and percussive feeling. Brushworks has been recorded and mixed in a 5.1 digital surround for an ultimate cinematographic musical experience. Aside from local music stores, Brushworks is also available on various online music platforms, such as Google Play Music and Spotify.
