The Maltese Islands Festival of Drama, Music, Singing and Dance is set to give both amateur and established performers the opportunity to showcase their work in front of an audience and a professional adjudicator from the UK from the 2nd till the 4th December at St James Cavalier.

The festival, which is a member of the British and International Federation of Festivals, is now accepting applications, for which the call will be closing on the 1st November.

Not sure why you should join, though? No worries! Here are five perfectly good reasons to be part of this experience.

Performance Opportunity – Even those who train regularly in one of the four performance categories rarely get to perform in front of an audience and international judges. This festival will give you the chance to do just that, whilst also providing you with international exposure right here in Malta.

Supportive Environment – While this festival will take the form of a competition within each and every category, MIF’16 aims to create a healthy and supportive environment to help all creatives not just achieve their best result possible, but to also connect with each other.

All Ages Welcome – It doesn’t matter if you’re four or eighty-four, MIF’16 is equipped to welcome you, and will place you in the right category to suit your level, age and talent.

So Many Categories – If you perform in any of the four fields, then you’ll be sure to find a specific category to suit you. Among the extensive list of categories at MIF’16 are jazz, hip hop, tap and classical ballet for Dance, dramatic solos and acting of a poem in Drama, classical piano and modern/pop/folk violin in the Music category, and choir singing and musical theatre for Singing.

Feedback & Awards – Each of these sub-categories will be professionally adjudicated, with the winners in each section receiving an award. Each contestant will get written feedback from the adjudicator on how they can sharpen their skills and hone their talent. You’ll also get to meet some amazing people on the way. So join up! It’ll be a fabulous ride.
