Modern healthcare has long proven that natural products such as essential oils, herbs and botanical extracts in their most organic state can be as restoring as man-made chemicals.

One such gift bestowed to us by Mother Earth is Melaleuca Alternifolia, more commonly known as the Tea Tree. Endemic to the Australian continent, this species has antiseptic, anaesthetic, bactericidal and fungicidal properties.

As the key ingredient in the Australian Bodycare range, the products’ percentage content of Pure Tea Tree Oil optimises healing for a variety of skin conditions and complaints – from head lice to foot fungus.

Head Lice

With the start of another scholastic year, the potential for an outbreak of head lice is on many parents’ minds, as this tends to affect children aged between 3 and 12. As a strong antiseptic, 100% Tea Tree Oil can kill lice and their eggs. Simply add 5 to 10 drops of it to your Daily Treatment Conditioner, then comb out your child’s tresses to remove lice. Repeat this process 2 to 3 times a week for up to two weeks.

You can also help shield your child from head lice by applying a few drops of pure tea tree oil behind their ears and around their hair line. This will act as a repellent.

Acne and blemishes – After cleansing the affected area twice daily with the Australian Bodycare Daily Facial Cleansing Wash, apply Pure Tea Tree Oil directly onto the spots, in order to prevent bacteria spreading. The oil will also unclog blocked pores.

Insect bites and stings – Dab Pure Tea Tree Oil on the affected area to obtain immediate soothing relief from the sting or the wheal. This will also kill bacteria.

Eczema, Dermatitis & Psoriasis – Applying the Australian Bodycare Body Lotion on a regular basis will calm itching sensations, nourish your skin and remove any build-up of scales caused by psoriasis. It is recommended that you carry out a test patch beforehand.

Athlete’s foot and fungal infection – After applying the Australian Bodycare Body Wash, dab some Pure Tea Tree Oil twice daily for two weeks. For a more effective treatment, you may also use the Australian Bodycare Hand & Foot Lotion, which can also prevent foot odour when applied daily.

Cuts and abrasions – Cleanse thoroughly with Daily Cleansing Wash, and apply Tea Tree Oil with a cotton bud 2 to 3 times daily to kill any bacteria and to soothe pain. However, if the injury is serious, do consult your doctor.

Mouth Ulcers – Use one end of a cotton bud to apply Pure Tea Tree Oil directly to the affected area twice daily for up to a week.

Shaving burn – Apply the Australian Bodycare After Shave Balm to relieve symptoms and to decrease any chances of infection.

Sunburn – Immediately apply Body Lotion to soothe burnt, dehydrated skin, and to avoid peeling.
