Under the baton of Wayne Marshall, the New Choral Singers, in association with the Hilltop Gardens, will be presenting their annual open-air summer concert on the 16th July at The Crescent Pool Area within the Hilltop Gardens in Naxxar.

Aptly titled Lights! Camera! Singers!, this year’s concert will be a carousel of musical delights from La Scala to Broadway. The varied programme includes music of different genres and different eras, bound to appeal to music lovers of all ages.

The choir will be performing popular arias from well-known operas such as the famous ‘Toreador Song’ from Carmen by Georges Bizet, and much loved music from movies such as ‘Moon River’ from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Wayne Marshall is a virtuoso organist and solo pianist, and is a celebrated interpreter of Gershwin, Bernstein, Ellington and other 20th century American composers. Apart from directing the choir, Maestro Marshall will also be playing an improvisation on themes from West Side Story. The concert will also feature soloist Albert Buttigieg, one of the island’s finest bass performers. The singers will be accompanied on the piano by resident conductor Shirley Helleur and Irina Fedcenko.

The concert is being staged in collaboration with the Hilltop Gardens in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. Whilst entrance to the concert is free, a collection will be held in aid of the cause. Entrance is strictly upon presentation of an invitation which can be collected from the Frank Salt Real Estate Offices in Balzan Valley in Balzan, Paceville Avenue and George Borg Olivier Street in St Julian’s, Hilltop Gardens in Naxxar, and the Malta Community Chest Fund Office at The Palace in Valletta.

The event is also being supported by Frank Salt Real Estate and Floreal florists. Doors open at 7.45pm, and the show will commence at 8.30pm. Bar facilities are being made available both before and after the concert at Hilltop Gardens Lounge. Underground parking is also complementary on a first-come-first-served basis.
