The Johane Casabene Dance Conservatoire has devised an original dance spectacle based on the magical world of Pinocchio by the Italian writer Collodi, which will be performed at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

Collodi’s incredible tale of youthful mischief, courage and the unconditional love of a parent will transport the audience through the various adventures of Pinocchio. The 1883 publication, which has been translated into more languages than the Bible, has inspired a highly innovative choreographic interpretation of the Italian tale.

The intention is to transcribe a story with a moral message to a diverse audience through the universal language of dance. Pinocchio will convey a visual spectacle which all ages can enjoy. The narrator, who will represent Collodi, will also act as an educator by communicating more meaningful messages within the tale.

The audience will experience Pinocchio’s adventures through the expressive medium of dance, enhanced by spectacular scenery, vibrant costumes and more. This timeless tale goes beyond the antics of a mischievous little puppet, and its values are relevant to children and adults alike. Another aspect of this production is the use of an original score of music by Italian composer, Enrico Melozzi.

Pinocchio will be performed at the fully air-conditioned Mediterranean Conference Centre on the 22nd July at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
