Thirty female and fifteen male contestants will be vying for the title of Miss & Mr World Malta through the programme Gateway to Miss World. The winners will be given the opportunity to represent Malta at the prestigious finals of Miss & Mr World, together with 160 other contestants from all over the globe. They will be spending a month exploring and participating in various activities during their stay in the host country.

Sue Rossi and Claudia Calleja were thoroughly pleased by this year’s level of standards during Gateway to Miss World, where participants were given exposure and experience through photo shoots and interviews, besides other activities.

The winners will be announced on the 18th June, and they will be crowned by Katrina Pavia, the reigning Miss World Malta who had also participated in the last edition of Miss World held in Sanya, China.

The final night will be held at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, and will be transmitted live on NET TV at 9pm. Presenters Owen Bonnici and Stephanie Chircop will be hosting the show. This year marks the 20th anniversary since Modelle International obtained the licence and the right to send a Maltese representative to participate in Miss World. Therefore, it’s only appropriate for this year to welcome former winners as a testimony of the show’s success.

Notable fashion houses who will also be present include London F. Cafe, Dor Boutique, Enrico Cerini, White House, MG Mode, J. Piccinino, Nilara, and Nina Boutique. An international Italian hair show by Gandini has also been sponsored by Vitality and BVR.

All contestants will participate in a personality-judging session a few days before the final night. Additional points will be allocated by other judges for the contestants’ outfits.

Jes Sciberras has choreographed a spectacular opening with the contestants, which will be followed by an evening parade. The fifteen semi-finalists will then model a collection of swimwear. Then after another qualifying round, seven finalists will be announced for the final selection of the winner.

Several titles, including the most popular award “Miss World: Beauty with a Purpose”, will be awarded during the night. Once again, this year all participants have worked with NGO DR Klown for a good cause.

Bets of luck to all the contestants!
