Bright and sunny days call for something fresh and entirely different, and this summer is full of amazing trends and new techniques that are extremely cool and eye-catching.

This season, it’s not just the scientists who are being held by the mysteries of outer space. The beauty industry is also giving its own interpretation of this subject. Galaxy nail art is going to be one of the most memorable designs of the season. It’s not always quick and easy, but it’s definitely fun and the result is worth it.

To create your very own little galaxies, you’ll need:

  • Nail polishes (black/navy blue shades, white, medium blue, jade green and pink)
  • Clear nail varnish
  • A sponge
  • Tweezers
  • A dotting tool or a toothpick

Step #1: Start with the base. The only decision to make is whether to go for black or navy blue. Pick one of these, add a couple of coats and allow it to dry.

Step #2: Cut your sponge into little pieces, as you’ll need a separate one for each colour. Apply white polish on your sponge, using the tweezers to pick it up. Dab the sponge onto the area where you want your galaxy to be. This will create an illusion of fogginess. Get playful and put the galaxies in different places of your nail. Just make sure you don’t apply too much, though; less is more.

Step #3: Sponge on the medium blue onto the edges of your galaxy, blending it into the white and black or dark blue of the background.

Step #4: Use jade green and pink onto the white and blend them with each other a little, keeping the central area white. But why stop at these colours? You can use different shades, from lilac to purple and yellow, and interpret this trend in your own way.

Step #5: Use the white polish and a small dotting tool or a toothpick to create dots in the black areas, so they look like stars.

Step #6: Just add a top coat of clear varnish to keep it all on.
