Nadine Axisa has kept herself busy both locally and overseas since the launch of Velvet in 2014.
She’s made appearances at A Night of Modern Jazz, Perugia, The Italian Jazz Festival in Berlin, and the Mediterranean Literature Festival, to mention a few. Her most recent performance was in Frankfurt at the European Cultural Days of the European Central Bank.
The album, featuring twelve original tracks in the smooth jazz style, received favourable reviews including a four star review on the UK’s Jazz Journal. It was also featured on local and international radio stations.
On the 11th and 12th March, Nadine will be performing Velvet in its entirety at the Robert Samut Hall in Floriana at 8pm, accompanied by four excellent musicians who will bring a wealth of experience to this performance.
For those who are already familiar with the tunes, the event will be an opportunity to listen to different interpretations by different musicians, with slight but effective and engaging changes to the arrangements. For Velvet first timers, it will be a night of smooth jazz tunes and fresh and relaxing melodies – an exquisite infusion of swing, latin and ballads.
Nadine will be accompanied by Joe Debono on the piano, Oliver Degabriele on double bass, Joseph Camilleri on drums and Walter Vella on the saxophone and flute. These four jazzmen have studied their own discipline and hold a track record of recording and performing with various artists both locally and internationally.
