With Adele’s album already out, Taylor Swift taking a break and 1D going on hiatus, is there anything to look forward to in terms of music?

Seriously, guys. You need better taste in music. Thankfully, 2016 is going to be a fantastic year for us all.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be returning with a full album for the first time since 2011. We still don’t know its name or when it’s coming out, but we do know that they’ve teamed up with Gnarls Barkley member, Danger Mouse, to help them produce it!

Sir Elton John’s fans will also be happy to know that the Candle in the Wind singer will be releasing his 32nd studio album, following a hiatus of 10 years! Wonderful Crazy Night will have 10 brand new tracks, all written and composed by Sir Elton and Bernie Taupin.

David Bowie may have been in the industry for 52 years (yep, since 1962!), but you’re still allowed to freak out when you find out that he’ll be releasing an album on his 69th birthday, which is on the 8th January 2016. Entitled Blackstar (but stylised as ) this album will be the 25th in Bowie’s career. Considering he’s been listed as the 29th Greatest Briton by the BBC and 23rd Greatest Artist of All Time by Rolling Stone, we’d like to think we can expect great things from this great man.

Gorillaz’s last album came out in December 2010 as a free download for fan club members, and it was only made available in physical form four months later. All we know about their upcoming release so far is that it will happen sometime within the next 12 months, but how it will be dropped and who will have access to it remain a mystery.

Katy Perry will also be releasing a new album, even though she’s still touring for her last album, Prism. We don’t know much about this album either, but her manager has hinted that it may come out in as early as eight months’ time. While it pains me to say it, Katy Perry has made some serious ripples in the industry, so there’s very little doubt about how well this album will do or how many times the singles off it will be played.

Are there any other albums you’re looking forward to in 2016? Let me know!
