From a young age, Roderick Castillo knew that drama would be a huge part of his life. It was something he enjoyed doing which took him to another world. Twenty years ago, he started taking part in musical productions in Vittoriosa. They had begun with a production of Jesus Christ Superstar, which then flourished and became a yearly event. He also directed some of these musicals himself, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and Dance of the Vampires, to mention a few. This was the beginning of his acting career which led him to taking part in television series.

His first TV experience was in Evanġelisti, which will always be one of his favourites, since this was the start of all this. “But I think the first series which gave me a real boost was Salib it-Toroq, and all the experience I have now has led me to be part of the new series Tereża. I try to do as much as I can, and I also take part in Good Friday plays every year, as well,” states Roderick in the interview.

Can you describe your state of mind when acting?

It’s important for me to focus and immerse into the role completely. Through this, I am able to become a totally different person from what I am in real life.

What other interests do you have?

I love travelling and watching lots of good movies.

What percentage of your life do you spend shopping?

It depends on my cash flow. I just wish I could spend more! But yes, when I do go shopping I enjoy it.

Do you like browsing the web, and why?

Yes, I do surf the internet. I think it’s something that a lot of people can get addicted to, especially if you are a curious person. You can search for anything and all the information you need is there.

What’s the best thing in life in your opinion?

Family, the people whom you consider as family and love. I think without these, life would be pointless.

What do you usually look for when you travel abroad?

I always look forward to going abroad because it’s always a new experience and a time where you let go of your normal routine for a short while. You see new things and try different cuisines. Since I love musicals, London is the place to be. I go and watch about three to four musicals every time I visit. I can’t get enough!
