At the age of 28, Christopher Degiorgio will be graduating this year in Management & Administration from the University of Malta. He likes to exercise and keep himself healthy.
“The performing arts have always been my point of interest. As a child, I was always bubbly and very loquacious, but I was also very shy until I broke the ice. Taking part in drama sessions helped my self-reliance and assisted me in exploring my talent. At drama school, I was exposed to different techniques, characterisation and styles. I also represented my drama school in Germany, where we performed The Mistress of the Inn (La Lucandiera), in Austria with a performance of Gaħan, and I was also part of a community theatre in Latvia. I sat for exams, both for Trinity and LAMDA. It was a boost when I passed with distinctions,” states Christopher in this interview.
He has learned from being involved and always looks forward to more challenges. Acting on television was something that he had never accomplished before, and wanted to give it a try. “Presently, I am part of the main cast of soap opera Intriċċi. I’ve also got other minor speaking parts in other local dramas, and I must say, I am head over heels!,” confirms Christopher.
How did you first discover drama and how do you nurture your acting skills?
I discovered drama at the age of 11, when we had drama sessions at school, where I was nearly always the most enthusiastic student. One lesson per week was not enough for me and I wanted more. I signed up at the Malta Drama Centre to explore and learn more. Challenges and unusual interpretation help me to improve and to discover more possibilities, and I never discard new challenges!
As an actor, do you think you have a unique quality that makes you different from others?
Every actor must have a unique quality. This uniqueness makes each actor chosen over other actors. I try to convey my uniqueness and work continuously to keep it vivid. My unique quality is how I perceive the character I am embedded with.
What is your view on ghosts and paranormal activity?
Yes, I believe in ghosts, but I do not think that they just appear to scare us or to transmit a message. I think they have better things to do!
If you could make someone or something disappear who or what would you choose?
Well, if you put a three course meal in front of me, I’m sure I will make it disappear! As for a person, if I could? Oh no, I don’t have that power yet… sorry!
What gives you great pride?
Success and accomplishments !
What are your views on plastic surgery?
Some people believe that nature should be improved. I think that one should accept him/herself. However, if it’s really necessary, why not?
