Here’s hoping these tin can luminaries don’t turn into makeshift ashtrays.
What You’ll Need:
- Empty tin cans
- Black marker
- Large nail
- Black paint
- Paint brush
Step #1: Fill the tin can with water and put it in a freezer. Once the water is frozen, take the can out.
Step #2: Draw any word or image you’d like onto the tin can.
Step #3: Place the tin can horizontally on a towel. This will create friction and hold the can in place when there is impact from the hammer.
Step #4: Puncture the design on the can with a hammer and nail.
Step #5: Run hot water over the ice to melt it.
Step #6: The ice may have dented the bottom of the can. Place the towel over the bottom and hammer it down until it’s level.
Step #7: Coat the tin with a few layers of black paint. Once it’s dry, check with a toothpick that all the punctured holes are still open.
Step #8: Light a candle a place them inside the tin can.
