At the beginning, Michela Dalli’s passion was solely for singing, having joined the Cantores Sancti Juliani at a relatively young age. Seeking to enhance her experience, she sought out vocal lessons with two-time Malta Eurovision Song Contest finalist, Isabelle Zammit. Michela then made it through to the final of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2011 and was placed 2nd in the ‘Talent Ġdid’ category.
She then moved on to Pamela Bezzina, co-founder of the Animae Gospel Choir and VocalBooth Studios. She has never looked back since then, and has successfully reached the finals of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza of 2014 and 2015, L-Għanja tal-Poplu in 2015 and the Summer Hit Song Contest in 2015.
“At the moment, I’m also a proud member of Vocal Troupes, which consists of a bunch of talented singers directed by Pamela Bezzina and Glen Vella. In the midst of all this, an opportunity to take part in the hit musical series D.R.E.A.M.S came about and I gladly accepted. This eventually led to a role in the daily telenovela Ħbieb u Għedewwa, and I’m currently on the new local drama, Libra.
Another opportunity arose and I’m now involved in a discussion programme called VS. I cannot but thank my family and friends for all their support, including Ironic PR & Artist Management and all my sponsors who take care of my image on a daily basis,” states Michela in this interview.
Singing and acting – which do you prefer most?
I believe that there is no art which is better than the other, and that I have no specific preference to either. Both give me great satisfaction. Anyone who gets into the industry knows that you are in for a barrel of laughs and a tonne of work, but the joy that comes out of it is truly everlasting.
What would you never, ever buy – and why not?
Tricky! Red grapes, or red wine. Not because of the taste, but because I’m allergic, unfortunately!
Do you like surfing the internet?
I do like surfing the internet, because I feel closer to the earth, knowing what’s happening on the other side of the globe. In hindsight, it was probably one of the best discoveries of our generation.
What are your life’s essentials?
I don’t think there’s anything materialistic which could be deemed as essential, so as a result, I would most likely pick a mixture of good health and values!
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you?
A towel, a comfortable pair of shoes, and a solar torch.
