We’re very proud to announce top Maltese tenor Cliff Zammit Stevens’ highly anticipated annual summer concert.

Cliff Zammit Stevens is set to return to Malta for his seventh annual summer concert. Cliff Zammit Stevens Concert with MPO will be taking place on Friday 4th September at the Pjazza Teatru Rjal in Valletta, redesigned by Renzo Piano. This will be Cliff’s biggest event to date.

Renowned for his tenacious vocals, Cliff Zammit Stevens is a graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, and over the last couple of years, he has made a name for himself in the UK’s competitive operatic scene.

His first performance in PopUp Opera’s production of Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore stole the show, with The Daily Express calling his rendition ‘a revelation’. The Times commented that he ‘blew [them] away with Nemorino’s duets and arias’, and the influential Opera Magazine sealed the deal by saying that he ‘shows exceptional promise’.

He is now set to return to his home country to star in his seventh – and biggest – annual summer concert, where he will perform duets with guest soprano Hannah Sandison, who is the winner of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Governors Recital Prize for singing.

Backing Cliff will be the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra in one of their first performances of their new season. The MPO will perform under the baton of the Australian Mro Natalie Murray Beale, who is renowned for conducting the new opera commission, We Are Shadows, at the Spitalfields Festival, which won a Royal Society Award in 2012.

“I couldn’t be more excited to return home for this performance,” says Cliff. “We’ve spent countless hours hand-picking the pieces to be sung, and the programme for the night will surely appeal to opera lovers of all ages.”

This year’s programme will last around two hours, and will include pieces composed by Puccini, Tchaikovsky, Monteverdi, Donizetti, Verdi, and Rodgers & Hammerstein, to mention a few.

While in Malta, Cliff will also be performing alongside world-renowned tenor Joseph Calleja and global superstar Anastacia during the Annual Maltese Summer Concert at the Luxol Grounds in Pembroke on Monday 3rd August.
