The Mellieħa Local Council will be organising the eighth edition of Mellieħa Nights, taking place from the 30th July till the 2nd August 2015. This is a much-awaited event in the Maltese cultural calendar, which attracts thousands of people to Mellieħa, where locals and tourists alike enjoy the finest qualities of this seaside community. It is supported by the Malta Tourism Authority and the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government.



Council Day at the Mellieħa Local Council will be marked on Thursday 30th July 2015. It will be organised at the Mellieħa Sanctuary Courtyard, where a number of folkloristic sketches will be on display. The works of different people from various walks of life will also be honoured through a unanimous agreement of all the councillors.

On Friday 31st July, a spectacular concert will take place at the Mellieħa Parish Square. The Council will be organising a 80s and 90s concert, featuring DJ Pierre Cordina and DJ Alex Reflex Grech. All proceeds will go towards the Malta Community Chest Fund. Popular bands and other DJs will also be headlining this event.



On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August, the main roads and squares in Mellieħa will be pedestrianised. Over these two nights, a varied programme of events will take place, involving the arts, music, culture, sports and food. Other attractions will include top local artists and musicians, as well as kids’ animations, all of which will be spread on three different stages which will be set up along the Mellieħa streets.

A record number of local and international artists will be exhibiting their works and paintings in front of the crowds. An art exhibition will be held at the Sanctuary Courtyard where proceeds from the sales of the paintings will go towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.

For our motor sports fans, this year’s event will feature stationary car displays, drifting races and an off-roading show. The display will feature local high-end cars as well as old trucks and old traditional Maltese buses. The drifting races and the off-roading display will feature professional drivers exhibiting their skills in a controlled environment.



The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieħa, which dates back to more than two thousand years, will be open to the public, hosting choral concerts in the sacred environment. The World War II shelters will also be open, where a fascinating exhibition will be held, and guided tours will be offered to all visitors.

The Mellieħa restaurants will also be offering a unique gastronomic experience with a variety of menus. The main roads will have tables and chairs set up for al fresco dining. Their patrons will be able to enjoy these lovely nights without missing on the entertainment on offer.
