Acclaimed Grammy award winner Kurt Elling will be kicking off the 25th edition of the Malta Jazz Festival this evening.
Forever at the forefront of its lasting success, the Malta Jazz Festival will be celebrating its 25th year with four days of exhilarating jazz performances, instead of the usual three. This year’s festival will be running from this evening, Thursday 16th July till Sunday 19th July at Ta’ Liesse. The extra day will be commemorating the Commonwealth Jazz Day, in collaboration with CHOGM Malta. This day will be featuring UK saxophonist Soweto Kinch, who fuses jazz with rap, and bassist Richard Bona from Cameroon.
We are very proud to announce that Grammy award winner Kurt Elling, one of the most notorious jazz singers of his generation, will be opening the festival at the Grand Harbour with his repertoire of love songs collected from all around the world. Other highlights include top-ranking artists from the international jazz scene, such as legendary cuban pianist and multiple Grammy winner, Chucho Valdes and bass legend Dave Holland, to mention but a few.
This will be the festival’s largest and most varied programme to date, and it will certainly be keeping all jazz aficionados and music lovers entertained. The Malta Jazz Festival is organised by the Arts Council Malta.
