Can you tell us something about yourself?
I love life and I enjoy putting a smile on people’s faces. I’m half Maltese and half Swedish. I describe myself as being a “dynamic, energetic marketing and business development professional.”
I am very excited to be working with an incredible team, we create technologically advanced games for mobiles and tablets. We have just launched a mobile adventure game with built-in 3D printable rewards called Bungee Mummy that has proven to be a great success.
Can you describe the process necessary to develop a new game?
Believe it or not, developing a game is not all fun and games! Bungee Mummy has been in development for almost a year and a half now. It all starts with a blackboard and a mega brainstorm. This results in what we call the Game Design Document. The two initial core components to developing a game are nailing the ‘fun factor’ and the level of ‘addictiveness’. Designing lovable characters and bringing them to life is also extremely important and very time consuming, as is coming up with a name that is memorable and describes what the game is all about.
Am I right in saying that working in such a creative environment must be quite addictive?
To answer your question, yes – it is totally addictive and I’m hooked – I can’t picture myself ever working in an environment that doesn’t stimulate high levels of creativity. I absolutely love it! Our team is small but our creativity levels and ambitions are huge.
Everything you see in Bungee Mummy is developed in-house. Our illustrator, Kyle, draws the concept art and skins, which are then transferred onto 3D models which are created by our 3D designer, Chris. Our developers, Shaun and Kevin, work their magic with tens of thousands of lines of code to make the game come together. Simon works on the strategy of the game and Brendon keeps us all aligned. Sound effects, level design, puzzles, traps, enemies, surprises, power-ups, official soundtrack (thanks to Sean Vella), in-game economy … the list is endless. Bungee Mummy is coded around the laws of physics so our creativity stems into both the arts and sciences.
Is this your dream come true?
I’m not sure I believe in dreams fully coming true… This is definitely the start of a dream coming together, however I am not easily satisfied. Launching Bungee Mummy and the fantastic response we have received, both locally and on an international level, has made me hungry for further growth and repeated successes.
