Eddie Redmayne – The Golden Boy Next Door

Eddie Redmayne is hot news right now. The freckled Londoner with the wide goofy smile and forever tousled hair has become an overnight sensation in Hollywood.

He is best known for his interpretation of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything (2014), which saw him carry away all the trophies for Best Actor, including an Oscar, a BAFTA and even a Golden Globe.

He became a heartthrob in 2012 as Marius in the musical film Les Miserables, for which he won the OFTA (Online Film & Television Association) Film Award for Best Breakthrough Performance: Male. lesmiserables-eddie_redmayne

Even before that, he was endearing as the young smitten Colin Clark in the biographical, My Week with Marilyn (2011).

The actor went to school at Eton College, where he shared classes with Prince William Windsor, then on to Cambridge University to study Art History. Despite being colour blind, he wrote his dissertation around artist Yves Klein and the colour IKB (International Klein Blue) which is his favourite colour – a very electric blue which he describes as emotional and intense.

His bold colour choices extend to his formalwear. An impressive dress sense has earned him the number one spot in the list ‘GQ’s Best-Dressed Men 2015.’ It seems that Eddie had a head start in perfecting the style of his now very public persona. He modelled for Burberry in their 2008 campaign and was later chosen by Burberry in 2012 to feature as the face of the brand together with Cara Delevingne. The playful set of photos/video clips from this campaign went as far as the billboards around Los Angeles, as well as making the cover of the August issue of Vogue Men, UK that same year.

His dedication towards the art of acting takes him to great lengths. Not only did he lose weight to play the part of Hawking, but also studied the Professor’s motions as well as working with choreographer / movement director Alexandra Reynolds to get the movements of Hawking’s decaying condition just right in The Theory of Everything.

He is once again working with Reynolds for his upcoming film The Danish Girl in which he portrays transgender Einar Wegener. The film is set to be released in America in late November of this year. On a more child-friendly topic, he has finished recording the voice of new engine Ryan for the upcoming Thomas & Friends: Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure (2015).

2014 was a busy year for Redmayne, even on a personal level. He got engaged to and then married sweetheart Hannah Bagshawe, his publicist, in a private ceremony which took place last December. He reportedly cut their honeymoon short to attend the Golden Globes, his stunning wife at his side.
