PIERRE CORDINA admits that he is in love with music. Basically, music describes him perfectly. “People do not understand how I can handle a breakfast show on the radio every day, then go to work in accounts during the day and finally, deejay at night. I have a passion for music and it gives me energy to deal with so many projects, including working as a Chief Financial Officer in a shipping company,” explained PIERRE CORDINA in this interview with RAMONA PORTELLI.
How did you get involved in music?
I started experimenting with music at a very tender age when I used to play a piano at home, but I wanted more and at the age of 16, I decided to start a radio deejaying course which gave me the opportunity to have a programme on a community radio station. I concurrently started deejaying in clubs and since, then time has just flown.
When all the partying is over, how do you chill out?
When all the partying is over, I usually sleep. I also find quality time to spend with my wife where watching a film at a local cinema is always the best way to chill out, followed by dinner.
Can you mention the funniest thing that ever happened to you as a deejay?
In twenty one years there are so many stories to tell, but the ethics of being a deejay do not let me spill out a word. But one event that is at the top of the list is this one. I had a hectic day and needed to go to Gozo to deejay in a club and as soon as I arrived in Gozo off the ferry, I realised that I had forgotten all my cds, laptop and headphones at home. So there was a big panic for a moment but an hour later, I was all sorted thanks to my great friend, Saviour who lives in beautiful Gozo!!
If you had a time machine what year would you go back to and why?
I would definitely go back to when I was twenty one years old. That was when I graduated in B.A. Accountancy Hons. and I chose to dedicate my whole day to music instead of doing it part-time!
How would you describe your relationship with money?
As a Chief Financial Officer, I am quite biased to think that money is important and necessary to be able to bring projects to reality. Sacrifice and dedication are important, but money does have its value in the equation.
What is it that you cannot live without?
Music is surely one of them, but the most important of all is the presence of God – it is He who gives me the energy to accomplish so much in life and the time I dedicate to helping others in their needs is only a small payback of what He gives to me!
