Twain’s injection of Silky House Music started way back during his successful promo stint called Monkey Business. People knew that good music was being blasted at the ex Vinyl club in Paceville, every Friday. Since then, Twain has somewhat guaranteed his position as a true House DJ, who can create just the right atmosphere to groove the night away in a progressive and careful manner.
Three words which describe Twain’s style are groovy, dubbed and soulful, a style that underground club managers are still new to, but who embrace it every time Twain executes it.
To take it one step further, his intuition and passion towards quality music has led him to bring over one of the hottest House labels around to Malta. That’s Mobilee with its sparkling, sophisticated sounds and many talented artists. Since then, Twain and three other main Maltese DJs have been organising events with a different concept from any other, and making the record label ever more popular on the island.
How do you try to improve on your deejaying skills?
Listening to what’s out there is my number one priority. Having a constantly new and improved library always gives me the incentive to go on. I enjoy switching the outside world off and entering my dome of sounds (studio) and just expressing myself with laying a few tracks and samples down together making a complete story. That’s the best way I find to improve yourself and to find your sounds. Also, the occasional course here and there (both online and one to one) helps me get to where I want to with dance music.
What pushed you to become a deejay?
Since I was young I have always enjoyed compiling mix tapes. So, it was no surprise to me that I’d get into deejaying at one time or other. It was more someone than something that pushed me to become a deejay, and that’s my old friend Duncan f. It was under his guidance and thanks to some other very good friends that I managed to get into this profession and who gave me the right influence and taste in music.
What is it that you cannot live without?
Passion. Having a passion for something always gives you an incentive to go on in this fast paced life we live.
What would you never, ever buy – and why not?
I am quite picky when it comes to buy anything to start with… he he but I think I would never buy a car that I can’t push. Both metaphorically and literally :) It’s always good to know your own limits.
What is your most treasured possession?
When it comes to equipment, all my possessions are treasures in their own way, each one of them has their own story and each one of them does something different. So my whole studio is definitely one of my biggest treasures.
