Why is it that as soon as you have finished doing your nails yourself, a million and one other things come up that might get your nail polish smudged? And why is it that time simply flies when you are doing your nails and you are suddenly late? It is a situation as frustrating as few other things are, but fret not because there are a few simple things you can do to dry your nails in no time at all and save a perfect paint job without the extra-long wait.
The first thing to keep in mind is that nail polish dries when it cools down, so put down your hairdryer if that is what you normally grab for. The hot air will work in the opposite way and will keep the nail polish wet for longer. Instead, fill up a bowl with cold water and ice cubes before you start doing your nails. Once you have finished painting your nails, submerge them in icy water for two to three minutes and then pat them dry. Alternatively, you can also just stick your hands in the freezer for a couple of minutes. This dries nail polish in no time!
Another way to dry your nails super-fast is a bit unusual but it works miracles. After you have finished painting your nails, spray them with a cooking spray. Strange as it may sound, the oil from the cooking spray seals in the nail polish and leaves your nails shiny and perfect-looking. Let the cooking spray sit on your nails for a few minutes, then wash it off. Alternatively, you can also purchase quick drying nail drops that are oil-based and which work in a similar way. Use one or two drops on each nail, after you have finished applying your nail polish. Wait a couple of minutes and rinse off. Shiny, dry nails without all the faff.
If you are in a hurry you might think to skip the top-coat but this is that little extra step that you do not want to miss. Using a fast drying top coat seals in the polish and gives it that extra layer of protection that is fast-drying. Make sure to keep your polish layers thin and even, for faster drying results. If you really are in a hurry, go for a nail-drying spray. It works just like a top coat but is in spray-form, so is faster and easier to apply.
So next time you are going to paint your nails, keep these little tips in mind and make sure to save your perfect paint-job without the extra hassle!
