It is that time of the year again, when the leaves start turning brown, the weather gets cooler and we go through our make-up stash looking for our favourite dark lip colour. However, hold your horses because this year’s autumn make-up trends are not just about the lips.
Go big or go home with eyelash extensions, false lashes or lots of mascara. Big lashes is what the 2014 autumn trend is all about. Look sophisticated with minimal makeup all over the rest of the face and doll-like eyes on top. Accentuate both your top and bottom lashes for a retro-inspired make-up effect and keep the lips muted and nude.
Put down your tweezers. Bring the attention to the eyes even more by focusing on brows. Full, thick and groomed eyebrows frame the face and are one of the trendiest aspects of this season’s make-up. Be bold and sport your thick eyebrows, give them an arched shape for a more feminine look to the whole face.
Berry lips are still very much on-point for this season’s make-up trends. Pair them with light, natural makeup on the eyes and bold brows. Enhance flawless looking skin with fresh cheeks for a classy finish. Keep it sophisticated and elegant by blotting in a bold lip to make it more wearable and not prone to too many touch ups throughout the day.
Metallic shades are not just reserved to the eyes for this year’s autumn make-up trends. Go retro with slightly bronzed lips or accentuate your eyes with gold or silver options. For a more playful take on this trend, go for a diffused glittery green shade all over the lid.
Cat’s eyes and smoky looks are also very much on trend for autumn 2014. Go bold with thick black eyeliner that ends with a flick. For the smoky eye looks, the trend is to go for grey-brown shades that look great muted for during the day or more intense and sultry if you are going out in the evening. Give your eyes more definition with a thin line of black eyeliner along the lash line and trace the insides of the waterline as well.
What are you most looking forward to when it comes to makeup this autumn?
