This morning we’ve all woken up to the tragic news about the death of Oscar winning actor Robin Williams. Whether you remember him as Popeye, the Genie in Aladdin, Mrs Doubtfire, Peter Pan or John Keating in the Dead Poet’s Society, what’s immediately obvious is that Williams was a universally loved and respected comedian and actor.
Although he had many struggles in his own life, Robin Williams continually provided us with funny, witty and inspirational quotes that will continue to influence and amuse generations to come.
Here are just a handful of them:
‘You’re only given one little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.’
‘She is not perfect. You are not perfect. The question is whether or not you are perfect for each other.’ – Good Will Hunting
‘We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.’ – Dead Poets Society
‘Ah yes, divorce. From the Latin word meaning to rip out a man’s genitalia through his wallet.’
‘Comedy is acting out optimism.’
