GABRIELLA BORG received her training in acting at the Malta Drama Centre where she obtained a Distinction in Grade 6, in Grade 8 and in the PCert LAMDA examinations. She then achieved a Diploma in Performance and Speech from Trinity College, overseas.
Over the years, she has performed in various theatre productions, ranging from drama to Commedia dell’Arte, street theatre and community theatre. These include Medea, Shab, Il-Mixja, The Old Testament, Dottor Knock jew ir-Rebħa tal-Mediċina, Michel, Mitejn Sena ta’ Litteratura Maltija, Ħal Ilwien, Bogħod mill-Għajn, Arlekkino u l-Mistura Maġika, Tombstone, L-Ort, Magda, Mur Ara X’Se Jiġri, Ħitan and Ħlas.
Apart from these, Gabriella has been given both main and secondary roles in TV dramas, such as Simpatici, Becky, Numru 9, It-Tmien Nota, Santa Monika, Is-Sigill tal-Qrar, Tracesland, K.C., Missjoni, F’Salib it-Toroq, Dellijiet, Deċeduti, Emilja, Déjà Vu, D.R.E.A.M.S, Prima Facie, Ma Tinbidel Qatt and Katrina.
She also had a main role in the cinema film ‘Qlub Imweġġgħa’.
In 2008, Gabriella produced and presented the TV show Fil-Laham il-Haj. Apart from co-presenting and assisting in the production of the programme 7 Kuluri on Education 22 in 2010, she also co-presented a TV show on environmental issues, entitled Mad-Daqqa t’Ghajn. This was aired on ONE TV in 2011.
Do you have a grooming regime?
Before I sleep, I take care to cleanse, tone and moisturise my face and I also believe in regular facials. Besides, I always make sure to find the time to brush my teeth three times a day. As much as possible, I also try to eat healthy food – fruit, vegetables, white meat, nuts, etc. I always try to drink as much water as I can.
What’s the number one fashion item you couldn’t live without, and why?
A spacious, fashionable handbag – it’s amazing how many things can be found in my bags.
Do you prefer dining out or clubbing? And why?
Dining out – I love to relax by sharing a meal and a great glass of wine in the company of family and friends.
What’s the most money you have ever spent in one go?
I don’t normally spend a lot of money at one go and I’m not a very keen shopper, but when I’m abroad, I tend to forget about all sorts of budgets and spend money on visiting cultural places, eating out in nice restaurants and of course, in clothes shopping as I prefer to buy clothes when I am abroad. Once, I spent around 600 euros in one shop on clothes, accessories and shoes! This was definitely a one-off though!
Do you usually hoard things or regularly throw stuff out?
I normally hoard things. I hate throwing things away things- who knows when an old piece of clothing, a pair of shoes or a colourful handbag might come in handy – maybe it can someday be used for a play
