After my previous article regarding Maltese trademarks I thought I had seen most of our culture. But I could not have been more mistaken up until the Charles & Ron Fashion Show on Monday evening, I have never seen our history, art and fashion fused so so magnificently together.
From the Triton Fountain that embellishes the entrance to our capital city, to the Renzo Piano design for the new Parliament building, to the age old yet distinguished architecture in Valletta, Charles & Ron has very cleverly incorporated Malta’s capital city into their Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
CR’s show has been the most anticipated during Malta Fashion Week, and for good reason. The designers are considered to be Malta’s leading fashion house. They have received three awards at the Malta National Fashion Awards, which is the last event of the Malta Fashion Week; two for best designer and one for their outstanding contribution to Maltese fashion.
Charles & Ron SS’15 collection consisted of abstract symbols, laser perforation, and pastels, adorned with their own leather bags. The location, Fort St. Elmo complemented the theme perfectly, being one of The City’s oldest fortifications in Maltese history.
