Get these wrong and your skin will look pasty, unrefined and congested. Get the right ones and they will do so much more than just cleanse your skin. They will regulate the pH level of the skin, help give you a natural and healthy glow, an even tone and a perfect complexion.

If your skin is looking dull and needs exfoliation it will also not reflect any light. Try equal parts baking soda and water or a gentle enzyme exfoliant. During the winter months go for an exfoliant containing AHA – Alpha Hydroxy Acid (best for normal to dry or sun damaged skin) or BHA –Beta Hydroxy Acid (suitable for normal to oily, sensitive or breakout-prone skin). These are anti-ageing ingredients which really give a natural glow to the skin by gently buffing off any dead skin.

Another secret to looking good without make-up is a serum or an ampoule applied under your day cream. It will instantly add radiance and acts like a BB cream without cheating.

Hot Water with lemon first thing in the morning

Lemon juice mixed with water helps to flush and purify your body from the inside out, helping to eliminate toxins, dark circles under the eye and any skin sensitivities.

Green Tea Ice Cubes

Freeze Green Tea in an ice cube tray. Wrap in a soft tissue of gauze and massage it over your face especially around your eyes. It will instantly give you a dewy, fresh, catwalk look. It will also help to remove any skin puffiness or fatigue.

Juice it

For almost instant healthy, glowing skin try a green juice such as Wheatgrass or juice organic apples, carrots, celery and ginger. It’s a facial treatment from the inside out. It can also help clear skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.

Stay off the alcohol

It dehydrates the skin, can make it look blotchy and tends to create puffiness especially around the eyes.


One tip to look beautiful without make-up is to make the most of your natural features so beautiful, healthy eyebrows are a must. Sparse or over-plucked eyebrows could add years to your look and besides, power brows are in and seem like they’re staying. Beauty fashion comes and goes but gaps in brows will never be in. If you’re trying to grow them back, try using a brow strengthening product. A natural eyebrow treatment is organic olive oil, coconut oil or a mixture of castor oil and sweet almond oil. Try applying this on your eyebrows every evening before going to sleep for beautiful eyebrows.

Same with lips. Gentle exfoliation with a soft toothbrush. Make your own sugar lip polish by mixing raw honey with sugar or the all-rounder coconut oil mixed with baking soda. Follow with a lip balm or moisturiser.
