The ‘le salon’ events are gatherings of people meeting under one roof, traditionally hosted at private homes. These literary happenings are held to amuse and inspire on one hand and to increase artistic knowledge on the other. With our being as it is and technology taking precedence over more traditional methods of interaction, these moments offer respite and much needed human interaction.
‘Le salon’ actually means sitting room or lounge in French and is associated with literary and philosophical movements of the 17th and 18th centuries. This concept was also popular in Italy in the 19th century.
This year Le Salon Malta is organising its yearly main event called ‘As The Dust Settles’ on the 9th March in the beautiful Villa Bologna grounds, which are made up of an artisan shop, vast gardens, world war 2 shelters and the villa itself. This time the officiating muse is ‘dance’ and every emotion that this arouses.
Guests will be able to enjoy a number of performances with original pieces inspired by and written for this event. They will be swept off their feet at dance workshops that will include tango and salsa. A high tea prepared by Spice Kitchen will also be themed to match the topic, with light and airy offerings for everyone to enjoy. The sitting room session will be an added opportunity for sharing poetry, stories, thoughts, photos, sketches or anything that is making your soul dance.
