BROOKE BORG’s artistic talent became noticeable from a very young age. Taking a keen interest in dance lessons, she began studying Ballet and Jazz at the college of Jazz dance. At the age of 5 she also took up singing, performing on various shows and contests around Malta and neighbouring Italy. Her creative enthusiasm didn’t stop there, at only 9 years old; she added piano to her already growing mix of musical talents and developed a passion for soul music. She was inspired by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Roberta Flack, but at the same time would delight in the passionate sophistication and emotional expression of Italian singers like Caruso, Giorgia and Alex Baroni.

This love relationship with soul music and Italian music took her on a rich and deep journey of musical maturity beyond her years. Brooke also discovered an eye for TV and was quickly recognized as a popular TV presenter for shows like Little Ones, an Italian children’s program. She still continues to enjoy current success as a young, sassy TV presenter in and around Europe. Naturally, acting and face modelling became opportunities that would thrust this young star into a world of endless possibilities and creative fulfilment.

How did you first discover you had a talent for singing?

It all started thanks to my brother’s influence. I was always into music and expressing myself via music. In fact I started off with dance lessons from a very young age. Then, once upon a time, my brother started singing and taking part into competitions. This is when I started pretending and wanting to be his backing vocalist. After much nagging, my parents took me to my first singing lesson, and that is where the whole story began.

What would you never, ever buy and why not?

I would never buy something that’s in fashion that I’m not happy with or if I dislike it. I wouldn’t want to loose my identity just because it’s in fashion at that moment or, especially, if it doesn’t look good on me.

What was your biggest failure to date?

Rather than a failure I consider it more of an embarrassment and I was really angry with myself for it. I was singing with a new band backing me, and it was our first gig. So the pressure is double, as you want to impress your new band alongside with your audience. I was singing and obviously moving with the music when I suddenly stepped onto the microphone wire, the wire got detached from the microphone and about 10 seconds had passed before I realised this. I quickly picked it up, kept singing, put it back into its place and continued singing. I can still remember feeling my face turn RED with anger and embarrassment!!

How would you describe your relationship with money?

Haha… I give it the importance every other person does. But I am also aware that the best things in life are free. It really angers me when people are stereotyped or taken for granted or taken advantage of just because of the amount of money they have in their bank account. It is ridiculous.

What are your weaknesses?

I may seem strong on the outside, but deep down I am very sensitive. I’m very strong in controlling my feelings in public, but home is the place where I let go. I am very outspoken and impulsive, which has its own advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes, I do regret something I have said or done when it’s too late, mainly because I’m aware when the approach was not right.
