A spot? I think not!

I’ve had bad skin for as long as I can remember. Since early childhood I have been breaking out in rashes, pimples, cysts, chaffing and peeling on any part of my body. Sometimes my skin is itchy, tight or just painful. And it used to look just awful. It used to really bring me down and I have, in consequence, tried every cream, lotion, wash and astringent on the market. I even took pills with horrendous side effects.

However, there came a point when enough was enough. I could not take it anymore so I tried to make my skin better by doing as little as possible. And it worked! So here are some tips for better skin:

1. Cleanser, toner, moisturiser. That is all you need. Do not waste time and money with more. You will only end up with skin like bumpy sand-paper.

2. Sun screen is your friend, summer and winter.

3. Do not smoke.

4. Eat foods that are not processed. Think of the ‘eat clean’ concept.

5. Drink plenty of water.

6. Relax. Stress can often cause bad skin. Acne, especially cystic acne is a condition, it will not go away ‘just like that’ and I have accepted that. It is often     tied to hormones and genetics. But you can improve the condition of your skin by following these few basic rules.

Yes, having a bad complexion is no fun, but taking pills was not much fun either, of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this matter. Have you had a similar experience?
