Seen on catwalks and the red carpet alike, braided hairstyles are all the rage as far as hairstyles are concerned. Be it pretty plaits or a braided bedhead take inspiration from these stylish crowning glories!
To get Taylor Swift’s Alice Braid, tie hair back and leave a section out at the nape. Subsequently, split this section in half, braid and wrap around the head. Secure in place with hair grips and make sure to use a texturiser for extra grip and to prevent the braid from slipping out of hair that’s too clean.
Alternatively, you can incorporate a pretty ribbon in your braid à la Bella Thorne. (image2) Simply secure a pony tail at the nape of your neck and attach a ribbon to the base. Split the pony in two and use the ribbon as the third section for the braid. Fix with a band and fasten over your head with grips! Easy no?!
If you want to make a style statement, opt for fishtail braids; or better yet, copy Rita Ora’s fishtail plait pig-tails (did you notice this picture was taken during this year’s Isle of MTV on our rock?). Here’s a pictorial to show you how to do fishtail braids yourself: image3)
And lastly, for effortless cool, add braids to a messy chingnon as seen at Mulberry fashion shows. Simply braid small side sections of your hair and gather with the rest of your hair in a low messy bun.
