The hilarious Karl Lagerfeld often emanates all that is ruthless about the world of fashion. Although he should be most famous for his role as head designer and creative director for the fabulous Chanel, it looks more like infamy for his shocking quotes is overtaking this.
His blunt statements such as ‘buy clothes the size you want to wear’ and (one of my favourites!) ‘sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants’ have been cause for both entertainment and offence worldwide.
In addition to this we have all witnessed in horror his rather controversial comments on the appearance of British sweethearts Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa and Adele. Saying of the former ‘I don’t like the sister’s face. She should only show her back‘ and calling the latter ‘too fat’.
These countless ‘Karl-isms’ as they have now been named, are set to be available in a book named Le Monde Selon Karl (The world according to Karl). This will be published by Flammarion and written by Jean-Christophe Napias, along with illustrations by Charles Ameline. I am very excited to take a step into the mind of Lagerfeld and to see what undiscovered gems it might reveal.
