We all hate it when it happens on a journey to health and weight loss – when you are doing everything right, exercising and eating properly, but the scales are stuck firmly on a number and it seems as if the mechanism inside it has been mucked about with glue by a particularly irritating and naughty boy.
Of course, the temptation is to grab the scales, smash it against the wall, park yourself on the sofa and watch a trashy reality show with a tub of Ben and Jerry’s. But don’t. And don’t despair. There are things you can do. Just be a little stricter.
Obviously, do not starve yourself, but if you allow yourself a treat every week, try to extend it to every ten days, or if you are really strong, every two weeks. Really choose that treat, be it a dessert or pizza. But not both. Savour and enjoy it and get it out of your system.
Secondly, up your game when it comes to exercise. Strenuous exercise every day is not a fantastic idea, rest days are important. Perhaps on rest days you can do yoga or Pilates or a leisurely walk.
Do not give up. At the end of the day, remember that no matter what you weigh, you are beautiful and a wonderful asset to society and that the real aim here is health. Continue on your journey to health not because of what the scales say, but because you deserve to be the best you can be.
