Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week 2013: Day 2 – Feast Patterns by Charles & Ron

The Maltese Fashion Week is not complete without designers Charles & Ron, and tonight was proof of that. MCC in Valletta was jam packed with beautiful and elegant ladies, all eager and curious to see what Charles & Ron had in store for us. I can say with confidence that this is one of the most popular events during Malta Fashion Week.

This year the designers embraced the local traditions and, together with their exquisite sense of style, the result was undoubtedly a show of high-end designs. The collection was inspired mainly by the Maltese festa, with laser cut pieces similar to the famous pavaljuni and bandalori we Maltese are so proud of.

The show started off with lovely vintage inspired dresses, then it was a parade of one beautiful outfit after another – from palazzo trousers and oriental inspired jackets to George Cross patterned materials, all had one thing in common – a strong local tradition influence.

The Collection was cast in a palette of gold, white and pastels like sea-foam green and light lavender.

I was particularly impressed by their leather bag collection, absolutely to die for! A must-have accessory for every lady.

The models –  from Miss World Malta, Donna Borg Leyland, to Britain’s Next Top Model winner, Tiffany Pisani – had their hair neatly pulled back in a tight pony-tail leaving all the attention on the outfit, as it should be. They also had an original lace head piece and impeccable make-up by Justin Brincat with his signature mark on each model – green painted eyebrows.

The C & R fashion show was undoubtedly brilliant, a magnificent and spirit-lifting collection. This was an effortless chic collection and once again C & R impressed us with their remarkable designs.
