Hope you all had a great start to the New Year! Did you make any resolutions yet? How about taking better care of your skin this year? I am not talking overly expensive lotions and potions that contain far too little a concentrate of the active ingredient to actually deliver the promised results. No, I am talking about a proper cleansing and make-up removal routine even when you arrive home at 4 a.m. from a night out on the town.
Your skin envisions make-up as ‘dirt’ hence it will try to get rid of make-up while you’re sleeping. In general, it takes your skin around 25 days to get rid of make-up on its own so spare yourself the zitty trouble and get cleansing!
- Start by wetting two cotton discs and wring out excess water. Put some cream cleanser on each disc and gently work your way up from your chin to your forehead in circular motions to remove foundation. Repeat this process once more and do the same for the eyes.
- Subsequently, cleanse your face thoroughly with a combination of your usual foaming gel and a mild facial scrub. Always use a circular motion to help eliminate all traces of make-up and improve circulation. Leave the cleanser on for a few seconds.
- Dip a q-tip (cotton bud), in eye make-up remover and gently go over your lashes to remove any traces of mascara or eye-liner.
- Rinse thoroughly with cold water to tighten pores, pat skin dry, and hydrate with a moisturiser.
Finally, drink a glass of water before going to bed to counteract the dehydrating effects of alcohol and smoking; or better yet, break the habit…your skin will thank you for it!
